Induction Task
This photo was taken from one side of an island looking out at the beach and the other side of the island. The leaves and branches frame the photo and give the beach the idea it's hidden away. The ocean is very calm and motionless, and so are the trees, representing a serene environment.
The bright yellow flowers contrast the green and grey of the plants and the rocks. I like this photo because the flowers are so vibrant and gives a warm feel which stands out against the cold, cool rocks.
The next 3 photos contrast the first 3 because the first 3 represent the British weather and the next three were taken in Dubai and give a different feel. This photo was taken deep in the desert and the sand dunes give very warm toned shadows, almost purple. The smooth dunes are disrupted by vigorous tire tracks and camel footprints.
This photo shows a skyline reflected off a peaceful ocean. The sun is almost set so the sky is a gradient from the cool blue to the slightly orange purple and dusky. The skyscrapers of contrasting shapes and sizes blend into the sky the further back they go. The strongest skyscrapers reflect onto the rippled sea.
This photo represents busy city life, the bright blue sky and minimal shadows show its midday and there's still cars and a busy atmosphere. There's typical city buildings and towering over it all is the worlds tallest building, which looks small compared to the closer, but it just very far away.

This is my response. I used acrylic for most, but some oil pastels too. In the top right, I used acrylic and oil to create this to capture the motion of the marks left on the desert and constant moving and busy life. The ocean was created using short sharp brush strokes, and goes from harsher cooler tones on the right fading into a warmer and smoother ocean on the left, which reflects the dusky sky after sunset. The oil pastels represent the smoothness of the dunes. I used leaves and different shades of green to frame part of the painting to create a mysterious atmosphere, mimicking the secretive cove.
