Observational work

Sharp fast lines of black charcoal blended with white to reflect the harsh lines and shadows of tree bark and the layers.

This is of tree bark also, but I don't like this one as much because it's too harsh and there's not much depth or shading. The black blended with the brown slightly to create shadows to contract the sharp edges and it's blended in a slight curve to mimic a curved tree trunk.

This is of some seeds in a plant, it's very minimalistic but the circular shapes arent complete which give some idea of depth and shadow.

This is of the same dried plant on its side, I drew this blind and used different pressure to create some depth, and short and long lines to create the shadows.

This is a close-up on one of the seeds in its hole in the plant. I don't like it too much as the black is too harsh and not soft enough. It doesn't blend together very well, I was aiming for smooth shadows but the contrast is too strong to show that.

This is from the same angle as the 3rd one I drew. I used a continuous line in biro and switched colours half way through, I started to add some depth and shadows towards the end.

This is a close-up of the edge of the dried plant, I used 2 pencils of different hardnesses and scribbled. The edge itself is quite sharp but the shadows and lines within are quite curved to match the curved shape of the plant.
